Event dedicated to the joint project of First Step and US Embassy was held on September 20, 2018
With partnership and financial support by US Embassy First Step launched a new project. The project aimed to promote integration of children and youth with disabilities into the society. Within the project framework various events were implemented in which beneficiaries of the First Step as well as pupils of public/private schools, participated in the course of 11 months. The events were held at the day care center of First Step and at schools and entertainment centers as well, and covered various activities such as sporting, joint theatre shows and painting, exhibitions, celebrations, etc.
Since the activities varied children were free to create joint paintings, paint school yards and hold exhibitions together. They also actively participated in various sporting activities.
Some time prior to the events specialists of First Step held thematic meetings with school children, teachers and students in order to raise their awareness and talk about a disability field, peculiarities of speech, rights of people with disabilities, etc.
Within the project framework First Step children made friends with students and teachers of five schools and implemented joint activities will lay the foundation for the idea of proper integration, positive cohabitation and joint playing.
We believe that such tiny victories can change our universe for better and that is why we do not stop trying to take a step, even a tiny one, forward to achieve our final goal.
